  • Yes, your furry friends are welcome to join you on your kayaks. However, accumulatively all paddlers and your dog must not exceed the maximum weight limit of the craft. Larger dogs may make things quite cramped too.

  • The gentle, meandering River Stour is perfect for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. We will give you a full briefing and safety talk before you set off, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

  • It depends. For one-hour hires from The Henny Swan, you won’t need to exit the water unless you want to. However, for all other hire lengths and locations, you’ll likely have to exit at the portage points to avoid the weirs. Our riverside team will instruct you how to safely exit and enter the water.

  • We have to abide by the manufacturers intended capacity. Toddlers count as persons, so on that basis, they’ll only be permitted to be in a tandem kayak, and will be required to sit in the seat in front. However, we do not recommend this as causes the kayaks to become back/front heavy.

However, our TAHE Borneo kayaks from Stratford St Mary are suitable for 2.5 people, meaning toddlers can sit in the middle. Our rowing boats permit four people (2 adults and 2 children).

  • We have a limited number of buoyancy aids for toddlers. Please get in touch beforehand to ensure we have some available.

  • We offer 10% off for NHS/Blue Light, military and large group bookings (12+).

  • Yes, your safety and comfort are very important to us, so we have to enforce strict weight limits. These are as follows:

    Single Kayaks (Henny): 21st

Tandem Kayaks (Henny): 30st (combined weight of two paddlers)

    Rowing Boats (Henny): 100st

Single Kayaks (Stratford St Mary): 21st

Tandem Kayaks (Stratford St Mary): 35st
