Key Information for Kayakers
Age Limits:
Under-8’s cannot operate their own craft.
There must be at least one person over 18 on the river. Maximum 2 under-14’s to one-adult ratio.
Weight & Capacity Limits:
Single kayaks - 19.5st / 125kg. 1 person only.
Tandem kayaks - 29st / 185kg (total of both paddlers). 2 people maximum.
Availability:
April to October: Every day, 10am - 5pm.

Excellent food and drink.
Washroom facilities are available for restaurant customers.
There is no parking onsite. Please follow this link for nearby parking.
What to bring with you: We advise bringing a change of clothes & a towel as you’ll probably get wet. A limited number of dry bags & waterproof phone cases are available.
Location on the upper section of the navigable River Stour, gently meander through the idyllic and beautiful flat lands of the Stour Valley. Paddle down-river through Sudbury towards Great Cornard, Great Henny and Bures. Paddle under bridges, past historic buildings and idyllic water meadows. Witness an abundance of wildlife, such as cattle grazing on the beautiful water meadows and majestic swans.
Our stable and stylish single-person and tandem (two-person) ‘sit-on-top’ Tootega kayaks come with a deluxe backrest for comfort and support. Regardless of your chosen craft, you will be provided with everything you need for your adventure, including paddle(s), buoyancy aid(s), and a navigation map.

Recommended routes
For 1-2 hour hires you can comfortably kayak to Cornard Locke and back (approximately 30-40 minutes one-way). For 3hr hires, paddle to The Henny Swan (approximately 1-1.15hrs one-way). For Full Day (6hr hires) enjoy the more tranquil stretches of the River Stour beyond Henny Weir.
